FAQ

Frequently Asked Question about Cyclone Wing Chun........

Here we'll try and answer some of the questions we are often asked either by email or phone when people are looking to join our school. If you want to know more please fill out the contact form and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.  The best way of course is just to come along and see for yourself. AW.

Q. What nights do you train and how much does it cost???
A. Click Here for class times and prices....

Q. Is there a joining fee?
A. No. There is a yearly membership to the Ying Hung Wing Chun Association that includes insurance.
You pay this when you have decided that you wish to stay. Usually a  month after starting.

Q. Do I need to be fit to start training?
A. Not as such although if you have specific health issues seek medical advice. You will get fitter by joining our group.

Q. Cyclone looks very different from many Wing Chun Schools I've seen is it still Wing Chun.
A. Very much so.  We train in a realistic and often combative way however the Chu Sau Lei system is what we believe to be Wing chun at its best.  All the "traditional" elements are there including forms, chi sao, weapons etc however we don't shy away from hard training.

Q. Does Cyclone Wing Chun have a uniform?
A. No. Board shorts or tracksuit bottoms and a tee shirt is the norm. You can buy specific training gear from www.protamsp.com  Favoured apparel are boardshorts, Rashguards and association Tee shirts.

Q. What equipment do I need?
A. The only equipment we insist on is a gumshield preferably a Shock Doctor or good quality one. You don't need this for initial sessions though.

Q. What equipment do you use regularly?
A. MMA gloves, Boxing gloves, Knee pads, rashguards, Kick Shields, Kettlebells, safety mats.

Q. What ages can attend?
A. Anyone above the age of 14. Average age is 26.

Q. Is this a good martial art for women.
A. Yes. Perfect.
