Training Diary
This is a new section of the website dedicated to keeping an account of events at the club. Its not quite a blog and will have input from members of the club aswell as myself (being the clubs web adminsistrator, instructor, organiser, international playboy etc etc.......)
Hope you enjoy reading it.....
The Story so far, September 2005 - September 2008.
Cyclone wing chun was set up by Alex (me) and Ben Biles in September 2005 at Chillingham Road Community centre
http://www.cyclonewingchun.co.uk/The-Class/Facillities-.mspx or maybe http://www.cyclonewingchun.co.uk/Find-Us/Class-Locations.mspx, where we have been established ever since. Our friendly caretaker Sean has really looked after us and helped us obtain 30m2 of good quality jigsaw matts and never begrudges us a bit of extra training time when we need it.
The club started with 4 students: Dave Charlton, Martin Sedgewick, Joe M and some guy called Ian. The first three on the list are still training with us.
Our goals as a club (and as an association see http://www.cyclonewingchun.co.uk/About-Us.mspx) are to show Wing Chun as the complete and fight ready system it can be and to shed the image bestowed upon kung fu as an ineffective and outdated martial art. We move with the times and embrace innovation.
Present and beyond
Up till now we have had Fights, seminars, competitors and really made a name for Cyclone Wing Chun as a serious martial arts club with skilled guys & an open minded approach. We have a No Gi Grappling class on a wednesday ran by my BJJ instructor Dave Harewood and a weekly MMA sparring class on which we have been lucky enough to have my training partner Bryan Moore start training with us recently who was very impressed at the general level.
And Now the BLOG begins............
