Instructor Profile – Dave Metcalf (MMA)

Dave Metcalf

 Dave started martial arts at the age of 14 and started training in Mixed Martial Arts 3 years later at the age of 17. Dave was one of a generation of MMA fighters who more or less helped launch the sport in this country and could certainly be considered one of the UK old school even at the age of 27 having turned pro at the age of 19 fighting under Washington Vale Tudo & later Next Gen Vale Tudo. To date he has a 7-2-0 pro mma record after an impressive run in the semi pro, amatuer ranks & grappling competitions.

Notable fights include fighting Swedish UFC veteran Per Eklund in 2007 and two of fellow Cyclone Instructor Alex Wrights past training partners Pete Irving and Gavin Bradley.

He has trained primarily in No Gi Jiu Jitsu & Judo along with Kyukushinkai Karate and Boxing, Dave is a true Mixed Martial Artist whose emphasis is certainly on grappling with most of his many MMA wins coming via submission.

An injury to his eye put a halt to what was certainly a promising MMA career and now Dave is concentrating  his expertise in his coaching.
