The really observant of you will notice we have changed our name from Cyclone Wing Chun to Cyclone Martial Arts. this has been a long time coming and the reasons are mainly to represent what it is we actually do at the club. The main focus of the group is now by and large focused on the skills needed for the Mixed Martial Arts Arena (MMA) with a blend of Chinese Boxing, Wing Chun, Dirty Boxing, Clinch Skills & Wrestling and No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu based Grappling.
I resisted the whole MMA tag for Cyclone for a long long time as I had previously felt it was an overly usedand misunderstood term but in fairness Mixed Martial Arts is exactly that a mix of styles with a training regime which looks to compete under MMA rules. This is what Cyclone and the Combat Atheletic Arts Association stands for and constantly seeks to improve as a group both locally and nationally
Our Goals are not just about martial arts.
Cyclone has managed to create an atmosphere of self development and learning in what is often an underprivileged community and has to date already helped many young men find a purpose and worthwhile activity that has developed their social, physical and cultural development both in their work, social and personal lives. This is a massive part of what we believe in and aim to continue developing this side of what we do.
